Bet On The Popular Lotteries at Lottomart

At Lottomart, players can bet on the outcome of several worldwide lottery draws like Mega Millions drawn every Tuesday and Friday, it constitutes one of the biggest Stateside lotteries, literally and figuratively. Not only is Mega Millions played by millions of people, but the jackpots can also reach hundreds of millions! The Irish Lotto, drawn on Wednesdays and Saturdays, is another popular choice for players at Lottomart and one of the biggest draws in Ireland in general. And with the minimum jackpot set at €2m, it’s not hard to see why! Those looking for something a little more continental will find it in our blockbusting, best-selling Europe Millions lotto, drawn every Tuesday and Friday. Based on the Swiss Lotto Express but using the jackpot values of the EuroMillions, previous jackpots have reached the hundreds of millions. And with a minimum jackpot amount of €15m, it’s no wonder so many people participate week in and week out! The above represents just a small fraction of the lotto draws we offer at Lottomart. Introduction To The Concept of Lucky Numbers

Now that we’ve learned about the different worldwide lotteries at Lottomart, let’s take a look at what constitutes a lucky number, and the methodologies people use to pick out what are (hopefully) winning lottery numbers. Lotteries are games of chance designed to be random and fair. Each number has an equal probability of being drawn. That means winning is based on pure chance and luck rather than studying or following a specific pattern or set of lucky numbers. So why do so many people believe that relying on predetermined lucky numbers will increase the chances of winning the lottery? The concept of lucky numbers might be rooted in superstition and the belief that certain numbers are luckier than others, just like a football player might wear the same socks in every match because they think it will bring them good luck. But is this true?

Numerology

Numerology (described by Wikipedia as “the belief in an occult, divine or mystical relationship between a number and one or more coinciding events”) is used by practitioners to astrologically predict lottery numbers. They do this in various ways, such as determining specific numbers based on your life path, first and last name, star sign, and birth year. Numbers can also get determined by the current date and even the drawing date of a specific lottery. Additional mathematical models are employed too. And speaking (or writing) about star signs, Numerology is also used to determine what days each one should play the lottery! Does it work? We’ll let you be the judge of that.

Not everyone uses Numerology to pick out their lucky numbers, although some overlap occurs. For example, some players might use their date of birth or other significant dates as their lottery numbers. In the end, the reason why people have lucky numbers is because they think it will bring them luck and help them win the lottery, whether it’s due to an astrological alignment or other factors.

Common “Lucky Numbers”

Traditional lucky numbers include the number 7. There are several reasons for this. First, it’s considered a perfect number, particularly in Numerology. It’s also traditionally thought to bring luck as part of a lottery number sequence. That is probably why the number 7 is the most popular lucky number. Meanwhile, the number 8 is considered lucky in Chinese Numerology for more or less the same reasons. The number 3 is also considered a lucky number. It frequently appears throughout history. Pythagoras, the father of mathematics, was one of the first to point out the significance of the number 3. It has long been considered a perfect number associated with wisdom and understanding. In Numerology, it can represent life, death and birth, among other things.

Do these numbers have real-world significance? These are the luckiest numbers according to a study carried out by Casino Guardian and expounded upon by South Wales Argus in early 2023.

  • UK Lotto = 39, 52 and 58.
  • EuroMillions = 17, 20 and 21.
  • Thunderball = 13 and 29.
  • Set For Life = 21, 40 and 42, with the luckiest Life balls being 7 and 6.

You can see a few 3s, 7s and 8s in those figures, although the most common number seems to be 2, which is not commonly associated with good luck and fortune. Interestingly, you also have a 13 in the mix. This number is commonly associated with bad luck.

Common “Unlucky Numbers”

The above segways nicely into this next section. The number 13 is considered unlucky – but only in the West. It seems to be a particularly modern phenomenon as well. The Ancient Egyptians, for example, considered it a lucky number. Fears of the number 13 might have been (probably) exacerbated by the release of the 1980 horror film Friday the 13th. The worst recorded incident on Friday the 13th was the persecution of the Knights Templar in the 1400s.

The number 4 is similarly considered unlucky in Chinese and Japanese cultures due to the similar-sounding words for “four” and “death”. The number 9 is also considered unlucky in Japan for its association with the character 苦 , which means “to suffer”. Other numbers that are considered unlucky are 17 (particularly in Italy), 18, and 39.

Again, we ask: is there any real-world significance to the above numbers? Let’s cite the same study by CasinoGuardian again:

  • UK Lotto = 9 and 48.
  • EuroMillions = 18 and 22.
  • Thunderball = 12 and 35.
  • Set For Life = 30, with the unluckiest Life ball being 4.

So, it looks like there’s some correlation between the unlucky numbers we talked about and the above lottery numbers, with 9, 18 and 4 all appearing.

Picking Lottery Numbers

The lottery is a game of chance. As such, there’s no ironclad way of picking out winning lottery numbers, although it doesn’t stop people from attempting to do so. Here are some of the most common ways players pick their lottery numbers.

  • Past draw history = players look at previous lottery draws to ascertain number patterns that appear throughout and pick their numbers based on those.
  • Significant dates = players pick lotto numbers based on their birthdays or other significant dates (birth of a child, the day they got engaged or married, anniversaries, etc.).
  • Numerology = related to the above, players pick numbers related to their supposed life paths, first and last names, star signs, significant dates, etc.
  • Automatic number selection = some players automatically pick lotto numbers using a feature like the EuroMillions’ Lucky Dip.
  • Personal lucky numbers = some players pick lotto numbers based on personal lucky numbers. These are not necessarily numbers traditionally associated with luck like 7 or 8.
  • Traditional lucky numbers = on the flip side, some players pick lottery numbers based on numbers traditionally associated with good luck and fortune like 7 or 3.
  • Random selection = players pick out random lotto numbers without rhyme or reason.

What’s Different with Lotto Betting?

Lottomart isn’t a lottery operator, nor are we connected with the various lotteries upon which we offer betting. Some Lottomart draws are based on underlying lottery draws and also follow the jackpot and select secondary prizes. Mega Millions and US Powerball are examples of this. Please consult lotto rules for details.

Some Lottomart draws are based on official underlying lottery draws but have jackpots and prizes set by us. Quick Lotto Plus and Quick Lotto are examples of this. Again, please consult lotto rules for details. When you win, the money is paid by Lottomart or our insurers, not the official lottery. Insurance providers back jackpot and select secondary payouts to guarantee payouts to winners. Lottomart pays non-insured prizes directly.
